When Tulsi Parmar joined Cavendish in April 2025, she was looking for something different. Having started her career as a legal secretary before progressing into a paralegal role, she was used to a more traditional, paper-based way of working.
Cavendish offered a clear contrast.
“I came across Cavendish through LinkedIn, and everything just aligned at the right time,” she explains. “It wasn’t a typical high street firm. It felt like something bigger, more modern, and somewhere I could really grow.”
As she settled into the role, the pace and variety of the work quickly became apparent. Each day begins with reviewing emails and prompts, identifying priorities, and planning how best to move matters forward. From there, the focus is on maintaining momentum, ensuring communication flows between clients, colleagues, and third parties.
Adapting to this pace requires a proactive mindset. In her first year, Tulsi experienced a number of internal team changes, giving her the opportunity to work with different property lawyers and approaches. This exposure allowed her to broaden her understanding of the role, build confidence across a variety of working styles, and strengthen her ability to adapt.
“It was a big learning curve,” she says. “But it pushed me to become more proactive and develop my skills much faster. I made sure to ask questions and step up where I felt I could do more.”
This proactivity, combined with a consistently positive attitude, underpins how she approaches her work. Tulsi places real importance on bringing the right mindset into everything she does, whether working with clients or collaborating with colleagues. She believes it not only strengthens relationships but also creates a more productive and supportive working environment.
“Having a positive mindset makes a big difference,” she explains. “It’s easy to get overwhelmed with some of the work, but keeping that positive mindset, utilising all the resources available, it helps with your work and how you connect with people around you.”
The environment around her has played an important role in supporting that approach. From her initial training through to day-to-day work, Tulsi highlights the strong sense of connection across teams.
“I was onboarded with a group with six other trainees when I first started and we’ve stayed close,” she says. “It’s a friendly environment; people are always open to talking and getting to know each other. There’s a good work-life balance that I think can be hard to find at traditional firms. We socialise as a team, but we also know when to put our heads down and work hard for our clients too.”
Cavendish’s visibility and growth have also played a role in shaping her ambitions. From internal job opportunities to the company’s presence on social media, she sees a business that actively encourages progression and makes career pathways visible.
“Like I said before, I found Cavendish from LinkedIn and I just loved the culture they were fostering online. Now that I’m here, I’m always seeing new opportunities and roles being shared,” she says. “It really makes you feel like you can grow and build a long-term career here.”
Tools such as Visualfiles have supported her development, enabling her to work efficiently and keep cases progressing smoothly. As her confidence has grown, Tulsi has established a consistent and sustainable approach to managing her workload.
“I just kind of fell in love with the work I was doing,” she says. “There’s a strong work-life balance here, but when I first started, I found the work so rewarding that I was really motivated to respond promptly and keep tasks moving.”
Looking ahead, Tulsi is focused on continuing her progression, with ambitions to qualify as a property lawyer. With visible opportunities, ongoing support, and a strong foundation already in place, she is committed to building her career further within the business.
Her advice to others starting out reflects her own experience: stay proactive, maintain a positive mindset, and make the most of the opportunities available.
“Cavendish is not like other legal firms,” she says. “I’m lucky that I get to work for a firm that I’m excited to boast to friends and family about.”
